Our Family Takes the Leap

In 2012, Govind and Anita Shrestha took a leap of faith and purchased Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream in Skokie. They embraced the challenge of running a local ice cream shop, making Skokie their new second home behind Niles, Illinois.

Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream – A Community Staple

Within a year, Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream became more than just a business. The family created a space where customers felt at home. Skokie residents soon began to see it as a community gathering spot, where smiles were shared over super premium Wisconsin-made ice cream.

Expanding the Offerings with Unique Flavors

The Shresthas introduced cakes, homemade fudge, and freshly baked cookies, which became a hit! Their signature flavor, Zanzibar Chocolate, quickly became a fan favorite, leading to the shop being recognized as the best in Skokie.

Awards and Recognition

In 2019, Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream received the **Best Ice Cream in Skokie** award in the Patch National Ice Cream Day survey and was nominated for Business of the Year. The local community showed their appreciation for the family’s dedication to quality.

Since 2017, Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream has been recognized as a **Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite** every year, a testament to the love and loyalty of the local community.

By 2020, both **Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream** and **Monkey Tail Frozen Delights** had become must-visit destinations for locals and visitors alike. People came for the ice cream but stayed for the friendly atmosphere and sense of community.
